Strengthening of Local Government (SLG) for Sustainable Development with Local NGO Collaboration Phase-III:

The project has been implementing with the financial and technical assistance of Cordaid the Netherlands for more than 10 years in different unions of Bangladesh with the partnership of other local NGOs. The latest project called SLG Project-III has been implementing since 2007. The rationale of the project emerges basically from the over all scenario of withdrawing governments from the responsibility of providing basic services and making local governments responsible for it. At the stage of Phase-III of the SLG project, attention is drawn on an innovative approach acquired from experiences of health watch committee formulated to facilitate UP system to monitor quality health services, demonstrate accountability by the services providers, active participation and involvement of local government and its health standing committee in UHSS and develop interest and access to quality health services by all segment of population including poor people.

Major Activities:

• PSP (Participatory Strategic Planning) review workshop and preparation of Annual Plan of Action for UP
• Formation of Health Watch Committee (HWC) and develop plan of action.
• Capacity building training for HWC & UP’s
• Participatory Strategic Planning of PNGOs and Bangladesh Union Parishad Federation
• Bangladesh Union Parishad Federation (BUPF- Central & Upazila Committee Reorganizing Workshop
