In all its programs VERC analyses its successes and failures and
tries to learn from them. Below are some of the lessons learnt from
our existing programs.
WATSAN and Technology:
* Mr. Alauddin, Chairman, Daldali UP has spent ADP allocation for
increasing safe water coverage.
* UP, Upazila and district administration has given special importance
to sanitation movement. They have committed to achieve 100% sanitation
very soon.
* Son and daughter are sensitizing their parents.
* Practical Demonstration visualized the community People to identify
the hygienic and unhygienic latrine.
* Community friendly latrine model is the key to achieve of 100%
latrine coverage union.
* Latrine installation in the community with ADP allocation and
other agency support are comparatively more effective in terms of
installation, use and maintenance if it is done only after ignition
and proper mobilization.
* Chairman Kushumba union parishad has spent 47% of ADP allocation
for sanitation activities instead of 20% as GoB allocated to meet
public place sanitation needs.
* LGI bodies have started thinking of public place sanitation needs
as a priority issue.
* Latrine Demonstration session is very effective to achieve 100%
latrine coverage.
* Local entrepreneurs developed to meet the local demand for latrine
materials.
Institution Building and Income Generation
Program (IBIG):
* In some areas there are many organization providing loan facilities
and loanees are taking more than one loan. As a result, the loanees
are becoming indebted beyond their capacity to play. Now we plan
to start loan provision in a new area we check for existing micro
credit facilities first.
* Loanees do not always have the necessary skill to make the most
of the loan taken, i.e. ability in a trade or agriculture practice,
or financial management skills. In our program areas we are providing
skills training to the loanees to enable them to make better use
of the loan provided to them.
* Organization should help the beneficiaries for feasibility analysis
so that the beneficiaries will get right direction for proper investment.
